In addition to studying Spanish at Linguas, we also will arrange a "homestay" for you which will give you the opportunity to live with a Mexican family while you study Spanish at Linguas. The families in Guadalajara (or known locally as Tapatians) are famous for their hospitality and will gladly help you practice your Spanish. Taking part in their daily lives will also give you valuable insights into the culture and customs of the Spanish-speaking world. The homestay family will provide each student with: Clean private bedroom Three meals a day (except Sundays) Sharing of the local culture Opportunity to practice speaking We carefully screen all host families to ensure students have a clean, safe and comfortable home away from home. Our host families are required to do more than just provide room and board. They are also required to spend ample time with student guests to give the opportunity to practice and learn the Mexican culture as well as assist students when needed. Host families are located in quiet and safe neighborhoods near the school. Although all families are located within approximately 4 miles of the school, some do require a short bus ride to arrive at the school. The homestay price is included in our Spanish Immersion Rates. If you do not want the homestay, we will send you a custom price. Just indicate your accommodation choice on the registration form. Hotels As an alternative, students can stay at nearby hotels. Rates range from $25 USD to $175 USD per night. Below are some hotels near the school that we would recommend. Linguas can reserve rooms at the Posada Santa Fe, but all others must be reserved by the student and will be paid for directly by the student. Prices mentioned are subject to change, so please click on the link to find current pricing. Hotel Posada Santa Fe is located one block from the school and offers affordable rates (approx. $30 USD plus tax) and clean comfortable rooms with cable television, work area and a refrigerator. The posada does not offer services such as a restaurant, bar or pool, but there are restaurants within walking distance. Reservations can be made through Linguas when registering for classes. Since the posada fills up quickly, advanced notice is best. Hotel Nuevo Real is located a short bus ride away from Linguas near the intersection of Av. Patria and Av. Vallarta. This hotel offers reasonable prices that include breakfast. Other amenities include pool and terrace and full service restaurant. (Rates start at $58 USD including tax). Hotel Country Plaza is located about 10 minutes from the school by bus, and is very close to the historic downtown area of Zapopan (which includes historic architecture, Basilica, shopping, and many fine restaurants and bars. This luxury hotel has an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and prices include a gourmet breakfast buffet.(Rates starting at $120 USD) Hotel Camino Real is located about 10 minutes away from Linguas by bus, and offers a country club atmosphere in the middle of the city with a large garden, several swimming pools and terrace style rooms. Linguas Homestay Program
