Methodology The Linguas conversational methodology is backed by 35 years of experience teaching foreign languages to students. The result is a proven program that allows students to quickly and effectively learn the language of their choice. A custom program is developed for each student based on their desire , learning style and skills. We use a conversational approach to teach which also incorporates reading, speaking, writing and listening. Each class is different, so it is never boring. To support conversation, we pull from currents, topics of interest, etc. and everyone participates.
Step 1 - Evaluation Upon enrolling, each student is assessed to determine their level of proficiency in the language. This includes vocabulary, grammar, speech and written understanding. A level is assigned based on both the knowledge of the language and the ability to speak. Step 2 - Course Design Based on the level, learning style and the desired outcomes, a custom program is developed and outlined for each student. This program takes into account the student's schedule and availability, their level, and their goals. Step 3 - Instruction Classes are taught in the language the student is learning through conversation. This process has been proven to be one of the best ways to learn a language, by not relying on the students native language. That way, the student learns to speak, think, read and write in their new language much more rapidly. A combination of books, cassettes, and conversation are used as supplements to teach the language of choice. Teachers use clear academic goals to guide conversation, as well as student interests and views. Although the teacher guides conversation, more than 50% of the class time is allocated to students practicing speech. Step 4 - Ongoing Evaluation and Feedback Ongoing assessments are conducted to determine how each student is progressing and whether the student is ready to advance to the next level. If a student is having difficulty in a certain area, and is not advancing as desired, the instructor will adjust the course or approach to help the student learn more rapidly.
